While the individual man is an insoluble puzzle, in the aggregate he becomes a mathematical certainty. You can, for example, never foretell what any one man will do, but you can say with precision what an average number will be up to. Individuals vary, but the percentages remain constant.

About Me

I’ve noticed a couple patterns in myself:

  1. I apparently have a knack for wanting to experience the whole gamut.

  • I grew up in a small town in the midwest (Michigan.) A yearning for new experiences and personal development saw me move to the east coast for my education, eventually winding up on the other end of the spectrum - in NYC (and now Pennsylvania.)

  • My first academic loves were math and chemistry, developed in high school. They are incredibly similar in that both subjects focus on understanding the essential building blocks of our universe - the small picture. I then decided to apply my chemistry knowledge to tackling significant global issues: CO2 capture / climate concerns and, more recently, battery technology - the large picture.

  • I am hoping to pursue a hobby in Astrophotography (after first securing a great career!), looking at the fringes of our observable universe . . . it literally doesn’t get any bigger than that.

2. I have developed an affinity for risk mitigation over time.

  • I volunteer for the Emergency Response Team at my current employer, and am qualified for Hazmat Technician operations. Additionally, I have received training in firefighting, rescues from heights, and confined-space rescues. It is amazing to know that I have directly contributed to keeping my coworkers safe.

  • I have a wonderful family and am building for their future. Many hours have been spent learning to diversify my investments, building my own Excel sheets to track and re-balance my portfolio, and improving home safety by taking on safety-focused projects around the house.

In short, I am motivated to help others reduce risk, and to truly understand the inner workings of the world around us (insofar as we can do so.) Becoming an actuary will allow me to combine both of those passions simultaneously, and so I hope to make it a lifelong career. Please reach out if you are looking for a dedicated team member with a commitment to long-term development.
